In Hebrew, the word “dog” means “a heart like yours.” And throughout history, cats have signified divine protection. Each animal has a unique significance but above and beyond this our animals bring deep meaning to our lives and teach us the ultimate lesson of unconditional love.
Have you ever wondered if our beloved animal companions experience an afterlife? Knowing how unconditionally they love, how forgiving they are and how loyal, it is no wonder that we all imagine an afterlife for them. My husband and I have loved four dogs in our 52 years of marriage and three of them have passed on leading us to imagine an afterlife for them.
A Letter From Heaven provides comfort, solace and the perfect knowledge that our beloved animals are where they need to be -in the caring hands of God. The letter is written from the point of view of the animal and is typically sent anonymously. However, if you so choose, a note can be included that states: “This letter comes directly from heaven at the loving request of___________..”
It was no coincidence that you came across this site. Actually, coincidence is a myth. You were drawn here for a purpose. At a time of mourning, it is especially important that we honor our pets and their humans. Our wonderful animals represent the best in each of us; unconditional love, deep friendship and a vulnerability that surpasses other relationships.
Dear Mom and Dad,
Well I got here early in the afternoon – never was too good at telling time. We were laying on the floor nose to nose, and the next thing I knew the pain was all gone. I opened my eyes to a whole different world so amazing I can’t even describe it! I took a deep breath of clean cool air, the kind that is around me when we go for our early morning walks, but only better. I found myself in a “pre-check” line with lots of other animals. The people entering this place had to be screened and patted down, but not us dogs. St Francis opened the gate and we all charged in!
A very sweet man was smiling at me and holding a treat in his hand, a hand that had a deep wound on it. Of course I accepted the treat! In case you’re wondering, it was a filet mignon soft milk bone treat -pretty darned tasty.
He ran his hand through my fur and kissed me right on the nose. What I remember most was the complete…..
Dear Mom and Dad,
So I got here sometime on Sunday night – it was dark when I closed myeyes, but the sun was shining brightly when I came here. I waited foronly a few minutes in the kitty line and saw humans going throughsecurity. Us cats were allowed to go right through the gate!
The last thing I remember on earth was trouble breathing like I’ve hadso many times before, only this time it was worse. The best gift wasbeing held in Dad’s arms – I felt like nothing could hurt me there. Asso many times before, I knew deep in my heart that I was safe andcared for so deeply. You and Dad always made me feel like that. I was,and will always be, your grateful little girl.
The first thing I thought of when I opened my eyes was how easy itwas to breathe the cool, clean air of this beautiful place. I took somereally deep breaths and let the air out so easily. I knew in my heartthis had to be heaven, a place I’ve heard of so many times……

Many people have been given a Letter from the Heavens. Without exception, the letter is received with tears but also with smiles. These letters convey gratitude and deep love from a beloved companion as well as the peace of knowing that heaven is without pain or sadness and is filled with hope, joy and happiness.
“The letter I received from our Cali, the dearest cat in all the world, is such a treasured and priceless gift! I never had so many different emotions run through me as I had when I was reading it.”
